Project "Lo Rider"
We built the Jeep in it's current configuration about 3 years ago and now the customer wants to re-work it a bit. Currently it's on 37" MTRs, our Y-Link long arm suspension, JKS 4" coils & 1.25" body/engine lift, Our full replacement tube fenders & Corners - both w/4.5" flares. Great Jeep but it's pretty much run of the mill by todays standards. After seeing Cat Scratch Fever and the HyLine HEMI our customer and good friend laid down a little smack... Never one to let a challenge go unanswered, we've come up with the build plan for the next phase of low suspension and big rubber.
Before:
Plan called for building around a set of 39.5 X 13.50/15 IROKS (customer had TR beadlocks to re-use) and the exisiting drivetrain - Rubicon (03-06) axles, 4.0l, AX15, 4.3 Atlas. We knew the Rubi axles were probably not up to the IROKS; however, we had a few tricks up our sleeve, plus the customer is a soft driver.
We installed our New Aluminum HyLine Zyros fenders and Corners, Aluminum Guardian Sliders with no tube, Aluminum Guardian front bumper and our Rock-Tek suspension with our new stretch arms while retaining stock Rubicon coils. The front axle was already running our truss so in order to keep the new larger meats from eating axle shafts we installed a set of RCV Performance Super Birfields which was a no-brainer. We've ran RCV's through some of the hardest trails in the country and have been very impressed with their strength. A PSC Hydro Assist system was added to help out in the steering department.
Hence the project name of Lo Rider!
